摘要：
The formation of numerous (similar to15) phases within a narrow coverage range 6/5 < theta < 4/3 ML found in Pb/Si(111) is an excellent candidate for the "Devil's Staircase". With SPA-LEED and STM it was found that these phases are built from two generating phases and extend over macroscopic distances (similar to0.5 mm) which requires extraordinary coverage uniformity. Very surprisingly, these phases form after stepwise coverage deposition at T similar to 120 K which indicates an unusual pathway of low temperature self-organization. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V.
