摘要
The paper presents an analysis of material flow kinematics in the forging process of Ni-Fe-Mo alloy, with regard to eliminating casting defects. The as-delivered alloy was examined (microstructural analysis, X-ray phase analysis) in order to determine its comprehensive characteristics. An elongated section was chosen for forging, which allowed us to examine areas of various degrees of forging in the volume under investigation. This also allowed us to observe complex thermo-mechanical conditions during the forging process and after its completion. As a part of this study, numerical simulations of the forging process of this material under varying thermo-mechanical conditions were performed. The simulations were conducted using QForm3D software. The results of the numerical modeling were used to determine the most favorable parameters for the forging process under industrial conditions. The applicability of the assumed thermo-mechanical parameters was verified by analyzing the microstructure and mechanical properties of the final forgings. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
