A Tunable Dual-band Circular-polarized FSS Based on Kirigami Structure

摘要
Kirigami is an art of cutting and folding paper, turning two-dimensional (2D) sheet into complex threedimensional (3D) objects, which brings mechanical tunability. Here, a dual-band circular-polarized frequency selective surface (FSS) combined with the paper-based kirigami structure is proposed. Its resonant frequency can be dynamically and continuously adjustable by changing the kirigami structure's folding angle. Simulated results show a wide range of frequency control of 65.2% and 28.2% fractional bandwidth for left-handed circularly polarized (LCP) and right-handed circularly polarized (RCP) waves, respectively, is achieved. This work offers a mechanically tunable approach to control the electromagnetic (EM) properties and realize lightweight and deployable metadevices.
