摘要
Introduction: In Norway, health department guidelines make public health nurses responsible for measuring weight and height in children and adolescents. In the case of weight, results are sorted into different weight categories, and public health nurses then inform parents which category their child falls into. Previous research suggests that the process can pose challenges and difficulties for the nurses involved. Method: In this study we draw on Kari Martinsen's ideas to explore how public health nurses experience the process, from the weighing of children to the task of informing parents of the results. Results and conclusion: Our research pays particular attention to the care practices adopted by nurses when meeting with overweight children and their parents.
