B-scan crack detection around the boltholes of rail joints

B-scan signal displays are used extensively in the inspection of many products. The article briefly examines the principles and characteristics of B-scan signal generation, and quantitative parameters are introduced for such signals. The efficiency and visual facility of this mode of representation of flaw-detection data are demonstrated in the example of crack detection using high-speed scanning of rail boltholes. Recommendations al-e given for the selection of inspection sensitivity and can be used in the automated inspection of long-line objects.
