The research is related to thermal energy production and related air pollutions. As a result of this process, emission of pollution to the atmosphere occurs. The effect of pollution depends on the sort and amount of combusted fuel. Technical and technological parameters of thermal energy installations, which have been used in the research process, have been presented. In the building there are two Paromat-Simplex boilers with Weishaupt L5T D burners. In addition to this, a boiler Paromat ER ND with Weishaupt L1Z-B burner is installed. The boilers characteristics are discussed. The influence of thermal energy sources on the environment has been taken into account. Calculations of the volume and parameters of emission have been conducted. The research also concerns the use of renewable energy. As a result of the comparative research with the application of Pilewang Gizex - PM boiler it was found that the influence of straw combustion on the quality of air is less negative than coal combustion. Carbon dioxide emission of biomass combustion is neglected because its amount equals the amount of CO2 absorbed by a plant during its growth. The analysis includes also the hybrid system of a boiler with a set of heat pumps in the power range Q(pc) = 13,5-67,5 kW. Maximum power of boilers is Q(hybr)(.) = 262,5 kW. The application of heat pumps reduces carbon dioxide emission: for Q(PC) = 67,5 kW reduction is Delta B-CO(2 )= 33 Mg/a and for Q(PC) = 13,5 kW it correspond to Delta B-CO2 = 6,6 Mg/a. Due to the fact that the object being the subject of the research is located in the Coastal Landscape Park (pol. Nadmorski Park Krajobrazowy) it is advisable to significantly reduce emission of pollution from boilers (carbon dioxide, sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides). The application of renewable sources of energy by local thermal power engineering is favorable for the protection of the environment.
