摘要
Aluminium LM4 alloy reinforced with SiC particles of two different reinforcement having different particle sizes were fabricated by stir casting method. The effect of SiC particle size and content on mechanical and wear properties were investigated. Scanning electron microscopic study of the microstructures revealed that the reinforcements with small particles results improved mechanical properties of MMCs. The dispersion of larger particles was uniform and covers larger surface area that improves wear properties of MMCs. The results show that the mechanical properties increased with decrease in particle size while the wear properties increased with increase in particle size of composites.
