摘要
The performance of a multi-port mini-channel heat exchanger deteriorates when the phases of the working fluid in the header are mal-distributed. Quantitative evaluations of how the mal-distribution of a two-phase working fluid affects performance deterioration are still insufficient. Moreover, most previous two-phase mal-distribution studies have been conducted using experimental methods because analytical methods are particularly difficult. A computer program named M-Cube, which can calculate the flow distribution in a multi-port mini-channel heat exchanger, was used to numerically evaluate the range of performance deterioration in a multi-port mini-channel heat exchanger due to two-phase refrigerant mal-distribution by assuming the degree of phase distribution in the header. The results showed that the heat transfer rates in a condenser and an evaporator can be decreased by a maximum of approximately 5% and 63%, respectively, compared with the ideal uniform distribution case.
