Mechanical properties and dry sliding wear behaviour of Al2219 alloy reinforced with TiB2 composites by stir casting route

摘要
In this work, aluminum-based composite has taken for studying the mechanical and dry sliding wear behavior. Aluminum 2219 alloy has chosen for base alloy titanium diboride (TiB2) as the reinforcement. The amount of reinforcement has been varied between (2-6%) and was fabricated using the stir casting method. The fabricated metal matrix composite was subjected to various testing procedures and mechanical properties such as microhardness, wear resistance, tensile strength, impact strength was obtained. It was observed that all the properties other than wear loss were seen to improve the most at 6% reinforcement compared to the original Al-2219 metal. The mechanical properties are identified and it has been correlated with wear behavior of the composites. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
