Realization of Enhanced Sensitization Effect in CaYAl3O7: Ce3+, Sm3+ Phosphors via Tb3+ Ions

摘要
A series of single-phase CaYAl3O7: Ce3+, Tb3+, Sm3+ phosphors has been synthesized by combustion method. Considering the inefficient sensitization effect of Ce3+ to Sm3+, Tb3+ ion was selected to circumventMMCT quenching existing in Ce3+-Sm3+ pairs, enabling Sm(3+4)G(5/2)-H-6(J) line emission to be sensitized by the allowed Ce3+ 4f(1)-> 5d(1) absorption, and an optimal concentration of Tb3+ was determined to 0.60. Results indicate that the Tb3+ ions play a role of energy transfer bridge to connect the Ce3+ and Sm3+ ions. In addition, a satisfactory chromaticity coordinate of (0.33, 0.35) is achieved upon excitation of 360 nm. It demonstrates that the samples of CaYAl3O7: Ce3+, Tb3+, Sm3+ phosphors can be a single phosphor converted white light sources.(C) 2014 The Electrochemical Society.All rights reserved.
