New Design of Double Layer Bow-tie Antenna with Edge and Middle Sliced Modification for Partial Discharge Measurement

摘要
Diagnosis of partial discharge (PD) with UHF method has been widely developed with various geometric shapes to detect the electromagnetic waves emitted in high-power equipment due to PD. The measurement of PD using UHF method is by measuring the wave generated from the partial discharges which propagate from within the source of the outgoing material PD. EM wave propagation produced by PD can be detected by using a sensor, one of them is the antenna sensor. This research discusses the new design of double layer bow-tie antenna with edge modification and middle sliced modification as sensors to detects partial discharge. Results of the previous double layer bowtie antenna simulation will be compared with the result of new design double layer antenna bow-tie obtained from the simulation results. The antenna is designed with a FR4_epoxy substrate type that has dimensions of length and width of the substrate is 160 mm and 54 mm, thickness 1.6 mm. 3D-HFSS software is used to design antennas. In the final result, an appropriate antenna design is obtained for PD measurement with return loss (RL) <= -10dB, bandwitdh, and VSWR <= 2 as antenna parameters.
