In Madagascar, students in Arts, Letters and Humanities desert literature studies. The article raises the main issues of literary life in the country, presenting first the main lines of literary history, then the studies and works of literary criticism. It emphasizes the close link, conscious or not, between literary life and the teaching of literature in Madagascar, with its extension into comparative literature.
