摘要：

The Mn(OAc)(3)-mediated hydroxylation of a series of alpha-carbomethoxy-gamma-lactones by molecular oxygen is de scribed. The reaction is regio- and stereoselective and gives alpha-carbornethoxy-alpha-hydroxy-gamma-lactones.
