Cross-linked poly(diallyldimethylammonium, chloride) resin was synthesized as an efficient polymeric phase transfer catalyst. This quaternized polymer catalyzed the chemoselective reduction of aldehydes and ketones by NaBH4 to give the corresponding alcohols in high yields under mild conditions. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V.
