Luminescence properties of novel Eu3+ doped NaCaBO3 red phosphors

摘要
A series of red phosphors NaCaBO3: Eu3+ were synthesized by a high temperature solid-state reaction method. Their luminescence properties were characterized by means of photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra, CIE chromaticity and concentration quenching. The phosphors could be effectively excited by the near ultraviolet (NUV) light (395 nm) and emit strong red emission of Eu3+ D-5(0) -> F-7(2) transition. The Cm chromaticity (x, y) of NaCaBO3: Eu3+ was (0.608, 0.387). The optimized Eu3+ content is found as 0.11, and the corresponding critical transfer distance is similar to 17 angstrom. The energy transfer mechanism is confirmed to be a dipole dipole interaction. Thus, this red emitting phosphor could be considered as promising red phosphors for NUV LEDs.
