摘要
This paper aims to observe experimental results based on theoretical approach. Various types of chromium plated steel tapered piles are used and the test simulating cast-in-place type in cohesionless soil relatively high density. Piles are penetrated in a downward frictional mode up to normalized settlement ratio of 4.0. The chamber is facilitated to measure loads at the tip and head of pile and difference of resistances give shaft resistance of pile during penetration. The simple geometrical approach for tapered pile is used to explain failure mechanism in a direct shear mode to observe the unit average skin friction of tapered piles. The horizontal shear component and normalized horizontal component shows remarkably good effects of unit skin friction of tapered piles compared to straight pile. Analyses based on theoretical approach shows the remarkable tapering effects with increasing tapering angle.
