摘要：

The present paper deals with the historical development of the Visegrad cooperation with emphasis on the various factors having an impact on the intensity of the cooperation during 20 years of its existence. It also defines the objectives on which V4 states focused their joint efforts. In the context of recent developments, the paper focuses on the identification and analysis of opportunities arising from the development of selected new areas of cooperation between countries as an alternative solution to overcome the persistent crisis of Visegrad identity as well as the definition of potential barriers in these initiatives.
