摘要
Direct-fiber-feeding injection molding is a new way in which the thermoplastic material is injected with continuous fiber and molded in one operation. It could eliminate the fiber attrition and reduce fiber breakage. This paper mainly investigates the effect of the sizing agent on the tensile strength of glass fiber/polypropylene composites fabricated by the new method. Then, the effect of screw speed on the mechanical properties of the polypropylene-glass-fiber composites fabricated by this new technique. Glass-fiber-sized polypropylene shows better interfacial bonding than glass-fiber-sized polycarbonate. Composites with a higher screw speed had lower mechanical performance due to the poor dispersion of glass fibers in the composites.
