Sufficiently thick layers of piezoelectric, continuously twisted, structurally chiral materials (PCTSCMs) exhibit the circular Bragg phenomenon in a narrow frequency regime, when irradiated by a normally incident shear wave. The interposition of a thin layer of the achiral and homogeneous counterpart material between two identical PCTSCM layers is shown to create a spectral hole in the transmittance spectrum.
