Scalp psoriasis: Patient point of view

Within the Psoriasis Patient Support Group (APLCP), the questions raised on scalp psoriasis are frequent, particularly on the therapeutic solutions. Based on the experience of the group's patients, an "ideal" treatment can be outlined from the user's point of view. The scalp's important symbolic value over civilizations and time partially explains the impact of the disease on the quality of life of patients with scalp psoriasis. Reports from the association's patients have demonstrated the negative perception of today's treatments of the scalp and have better defined their expectations. The marketing of a new gel associating betamethasone and calcipotriol (Xamiol (R)) should progress toward meeting these expectations. (C) 2009 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
