摘要
The present study reports the solubilization of a reactive dye, reactive blue 19 by the micelles of a cationic surfactant Cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB). For this purpose, the electrical conductivity measurements were used to calculate the thermodynamic parameters such as free energy (Delta G), enthalpy (Delta H) and entropy (Delta S) of solubilization. In addition, the values of partition coefficient (K-x), free energy of partition (Delta G(p)) and number of dye molecules per micelle (n) were calculated using differential spectroscopic technique. The results from both studies revealed that the solubilization process of reactive blue 19 in the micellar media of CTAB is spontaneous and entropy driven. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
