Synthesis of highly isotactic poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) by anionic polymerization of a protected monomer

摘要
Highly isotactic poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) was synthesized by anionic polymerization of a protected monomer. All the polymerizations were undertaken in glass ampoules filled with dried nitrogen passed through Molecular Sieves (MS) cooled at -78°C. Polymerization reactions were initiated by adding the monomer to initiator solutions at the polymerization temperatures. Results exhibited that highly isotactic polymer was formed via the isomerization of the monomer by the aluminium compound as an important step toward the high stereospecificity of the polymerization.
