This paper outlines the role of development assistance as a therapeutic measure within the normal psychoanalytic technique. Freud's definition of assistance that the analyst gives the patient...the conscious anticipatory idea to grasp the unconscious material." This proposal is elaborated in the context of developmental differentiation and regression."
