摘要
The paper presents the design of a genetic algorithm based power system stabilizer (PSS) for multi-machine power systems. The proposed method makes use of the classical parameter tuning approach based on Lyapunov's equations and integrates it within the genetic process. The search process provides a globally optimal set of PSS parameters for all generators simultaneously, and hence dispenses with the eigenvalue drift problems associated with sequential tuning methods. Robustness of the proposed PSS is ensured since the genetic algorithm uses a wide operating horizon as its search domain and dynamic performance with the proposed PSS shows improved results, over conventionally tuned PSS, particularly during heavy load conditions.
