摘要
Traditional electrolysis processes for the production of aluminum have severe environmental problems and are extremely energy intensive. High temperature electrolysis (950-970degreesC) inevitably has high production costs and pollutants emission. The fluorinated ionic liquids are promising electrolytes at or near room temperature and have unique properties. In this paper, the physical, chemical and thermodynamic properties of ionic liquids containing Tf(2)N and PF(6) anions are investigated. As representative fluorinated ionic liquids, C(4)mimTf(2)N, C(6)mimPF(6) and C(8)mimPF(6) are discussed in detail with regard to their thermal stability, thermodynamic properties and solvating ability. The result shows C(4)mimTf(2)N, C(6)mimPF(6) and C(8)mimPF(6) are thermodynamically stable and suitable for further study for application in aluminum extraction industry.
