Simulation of inertia effects during high-speed deformation

摘要
During high-speed deformation propagating elastic waves due to inertia effects lead to inhomogeneities in the distributions of stresses and strains. With the help of the finite element program LS-DYNA3D the occurrence of such inhomogeneities is investigated for a concrete experimental tool (a ballistic plastometer) and several yield conditions. The correctness of the simulations with respect to the dynamical behavior of the system is checked by reflections on the propagation of wave fronts.
