摘要
In this work, we have investigated a very rich source on valuable elements in mining to valorise and extract the light rare earth elements (REEs) contained in phosphatic mining waste. A detailed characterization was performed for the selected T1 fine dusting (rejection < 0.080 mm) whose mineralogical composition consists mainly of Fluorapatite and Carbonate-Fluorapatite. The detailed chemical composition revealed the presence of Light rare earth elements (LREEs) in the waste (0.64 wt%). A leaching study with many acids confirms the effectiveness of both perchloric (HClO4) and hydrochloric (HCl) acids. The effect of the acid concentration, leaching time and agitation speed were studied for the optimization recovery. However, the leaching yield with nitric acid (HNO3) has been improved by 40% at 95 degrees C. The leaching of the mineral by sulfuric acid (H2SO4) led to the formation of phosphogypsum whose composition was determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). An extraction yield of 18% was obtained using Di(2-EthylHexyl) Phosphate acid as extractant for Neodymium and Praseodymium, a better extraction yield of 57% of the same elements was obtained with Tri Octyl Phosphine Oxide.
