Over 200 scientists and engineers from Saudi Arabia, Japan, LISA, Europe, GCC countries and China attended the three-day scientific and China attended the three-day scientific workshop held at the Research Institute of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM/RI), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, on December 1-3, 1996. The discussions during this sixth annual workshop were devoted to the latest developments in the catalytic processes used in petroleum refining and petrochemicals. A total of thirty six technical papers from international catalyst suppliers, process licensers and university research centers were presented on topics related to gasoline reformulation and fuel utilization (3 papers), hydrotreating catalysts (5 papers), fluid catalytic cracking (8 papers), hydrocracking and heavy oil upgrading (9 papers), utilization of light paraffins (5 papers) and selected petrochemical processes (6 papers).
