An improvement color image encryption algorithm based on DNA operations and real and complex chaotic systems

Based on deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA for short) sequence exclusive OR (XOR for short) operation and real and complex chaotic systems, a new improvement color image encryption algorithm is presented with one-time pad. Firstly, three DNA sequence matrices are obtained by encoding the original color image which can be converted into three matrices R, G and B. Secondly, the new chaotic sequences reserving decimal part and removing integer part from six chaotic sequences, Key 2 gotten by Key 1 and hamming distance are used to scramble locations of elements of three DNA sequence matrices, and three DNA sequence matrices are divided into some equal blocks respectively. Thirdly, the XOR operation between these blocks is performed by DNA XOR operation and complex hyper-chaotic map, and the pseudo DNA sequences are controlled by quaternary chaotic sequences from the wavelet function. Finally, we get the encrypted color image by decoding the DNA sequence matrices and recombining the three channels R, G and B. The simulations and security analysis show that the proposed algorithm not only improves the encoding efficiency and enhances the security of the ciphertext, but also possess a better ability to resist exhaustive attack, statistical attack and differential attack.
