摘要
TiB-reinforced Ti-6Al-4V composites were fabricated by powder metallurgical processes from Ti, TiB2, and Al-V powders. The powders were mechanically blended in a high energy ball mill. The powder obtained was pressed into billets and sintered in vacuum atmosphere, then forging and other hot treatments were applied to improve the dispersion and size of TiB particles. SEM was used to study the influences of TiB particles in the composites on microstructure. Because of the formation of ultrafine and stable TiB reinforcements, the TiB reinforced Ti-6Al-4V composites are found to exhibit excellent mechanical properties at room temperature.
