Two ID chain-like copper(II) complexes were obtained by using N,N'-Bis(2-pyridyl)pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide (H2L) and picolinic acid. X-ray crystal structure analysis was carried out to determine the crystal structures. The crystal of the complex 1, {Cu3L2(C4H4O4) (circle) 10H(2)O}(n), belongs to triclinic system, with space group P1, a = 0.706(1) nm, b=1.113(8) nm, c=1.288(7) nm, alpha=110.810(5)degrees, beta=90.422(6)degrees, gamma=101.183(6)degrees, V=0.9262(2) nm(3), Z=1; The crystal of the complex 2, {Cu(pic)(2) (circle) 2H(2)O}(n), (Hpic=picolinic acid) belongs to triclinic system with space group P1, a=0.513(6) nm, b=0.765(0) nm, c=0.924(6) nm, alpha=74.839(4)degrees, beta=84.386(5)degrees, gamma=71.401(5)degrees, V=0.332 3(0) nm(3), Z=1. 1 exhibits a 3D structure by hydrogen bonds formed among uncoordinated water molecules; whereas the complex 2 forms a 1D chain-like structure constructed by weak coordination bonds.
