摘要
The availability of high temperature superconductor (HTS) bearings that are nearly friction free leads naturally to their consideration for use in flywheels energy storage. Flywheels with conventional bearings typically have idling losses of the order of about 1 percent per hour. With HTS bearings it is believed that as little as 0.1 percent per hour is achievable and flywheels can store energy for much longer than ever. The development of this HTS bearing is presented.
