摘要
Imidazolium dichromate (IDC) oxidation of aliphatic alcohols in aqueous perchloric acid is first order with respect to the oxidant and substrate and second order with respect to H+. Manganese(II) ion suppresses the oxidation. The oxidation mechanism is discussed. Rates of oxidation of 10 primary and secondary aliphatic alcohols at 15-45 degrees C afford activation enthalpies and activation entropies. The isokinetic and Exner relationships hold. Correlation analysis of the rate data reveals that the IDC oxidation of alcohols in aqueous medium is largely susceptible to polar effect.
