摘要
Large quantities of waste heat are discarded during industrial processes. The utilization of industrial waste heat for district heating can reduce energy usage as well as CO2 emissions. This article introduces a case study involving the utilization of low grade industrial waste heat from a copper smeltery and a cement plant for district heating in northern China. From a brand new aspect of system design, this article discusses and analyzes the technical approaches for high performance industrial waste heat collection, long distance distribution, and terminal system design. The result shows that with a proper system design, the industrial waste heat application will not only greatly improve the thermal performance of factories but can also serve as a practical solution for the lack of heat source for district heating in most cities in northern China.
