摘要：

Electrical engineer R. Gary Daniels' contributions to microprocessor chips since 1946 to the present are discussed. It is predicted that the divergence between microprocessors and microcontrollers will continue to widen, microprocessors will replace memories as semiconductor process drivers and microcontrollers will drive system integration with on chip analog functions. Software systems will also continue as the key factor for future microprocessor and microcontroller designs, while the demand for microprocessors and microcontrollers will continue to outpace the rest of the semiconductor industry.
