Low-frequency waves in collisional positive dust plasmas

A dusty plasma with positive grain charge can be produced in a Q-machine K+ plasma by the addition of SF6 gas. SF6- negative ions replace the plasma electrons, and the dust grains acquire a positive charge, since the K+ ions are more mobile than the SF6- ions. The excitation by an electric field, E-0, of ion-acoustic and dust-acoustic waves is analysed.
