Potentiometric study of the multiple equilibria in nickel (II) and copper (II) mixed ligand complexes containing nicotinic acid and imidazoles

摘要
The best-fit computer model obtained by the analysis of pH titration data in the Ni(II) and Cu(II)-nicotinic acid (A)-imidazole, benzimidazole, histamine and L-histidine (B) systems show the presence of MABH, MAB or MAB(2) complexes. The results indicate that coordination of ligands A and B are same both in the binary and mixed ligand complexes. The site of protonation in the MABH complexes is found to be with ligand B. The higher stability observed for MAB compared to MAB2 complexes in the imidazole/benzimidazole (B) systems has been accounted for by considering the size of the chelate ring formed by A.
