A signal through hard-limiting satellite transponder with interference

摘要
A signal is transmitted through hard-limiting satellite transponder under an interference. The transponder consists of a hard limiting, a post-limiter filter and a non-linear power amplifier. The signal is corrupted by an interference that is phase-modulated and an additive narrowband Gaussian noise process at the input to the transponder. The joint probability density function of the composite envelope and phase of the signal plus interference and noise at the output of the limiter and power amplifier is calculated. The power of the periodic and non-periodic components is then found by averaging the limiter output signal with respect to the composite envelope and phase. Curves for the small signal suppression effect and the change in signal-to-noise ratio as a function of post-limiter filter bandwidth are given.
