Influence of Mn doping on structural and optical properties of CdS nanoparticles

摘要
Cd1-xMnxS (x = 0.0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, 0.1) nanoparticles have been synthesized by chemical co-precipitation method. Structural characterization of the samples has been performed using X-ray diffraction (XRD). XRD patterns show that dopant atoms of manganese (Mn) are incorporated at the Cd sites in cubic structure without disturbing original CdS cubic structure. Scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis have been used to study morphology and elemental analysis of synthesized nanoparticles. Energy dispersive analysis of X-rays spectra confirms the presence of Mn in the samples with expected stoichiometry. Presence of the capping agent has been detected with Fourier transform infrared technique. Absorption spectra and fluorescent emission spectra have shown a significant blue shift compared to that of bulk CdS.
