Nonlinear optical interactions between collinear light beams with different wavelengths in a heterogeneous liquid-phase nanocomposite (HLNC) have been experimentally studied. An HLNC representing dielectric Al2O3 nanoparticles dispersed in an organic liquid medium with the refractive index strongly dependent on the temperature exhibits a low-threshold optical nonlinearity that can be used to control the optical transmission characteristics of the composite.
