Shear-induced mesophase organization of polyanionic rigid rods in aqueous solution

摘要
The self-organization behavior of Poly(2,2́-disulfonylbenzidine terephthalamide) (PBDT) was analyzed in terms of birefringence and viscosity. PBDT which is an anionic polymer rod showed a liquid crystalline phase in the lower concentration range and a longer inter-rod spacing. It was found that these findings may be due to the strong electrostatic repulsive force yielding from many anionic sites. The shielding of the electrostatic repulsive force by the addition of NaCl produced the needlelike precipitates from the nematic state.
