摘要
Aims and Limitations of Behavior Therapy of a Patient with Life-Threatening Cancer: A Case Report Background: In a patient with life-threatening ovarian cancer, metastases in liver and lymph nodes were diagnosed 3 years after primary diagnosis. As a consequence, she developed a Major Depression leading to longer-term inpatient psychiatric care. Case Report: The present case report describes an ambulant behavior therapy of the patient. The cancer recurred in the last third of behavior therapy and reinforced the patient's strong fears of dying and death. Aims of psychotherapy were coping with the life-threating cancer and reduction of depressive symptoms. This case study describes interventions, course, and results of treatment. Conclusions: This case report contributes to the possibilities of psychological support in cancer diseases with poor prognosis, also considering limitations of behavior therapy in oncological patients.
