Scopaeus hyrcanus sp n. from the Elburz- and Talish Mountains in Iran (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Paederinae)

Scopaeus hyrcanus sp. n. from the Elburz- and Talish Mountains in Iran is described and figured, and it's phylogenetic relationships are discussed. The distributional pattern of S. hyrcanus sp. n. and the closely related S. alaschiacus Frisch, 1998, S. championi Binaghi, 1935, S. gladifer Binaghi, 1935, S. micropterus Fauvel, 1873, and S. minutoides Coiffait, 1969 are mapped and discussed. New records are given for S gladifer and S minutoides. Scopaeus hyrcanus sp. n. is considered to be endemic to the Hyrcanian district along the South Caspian coast.
