In the context of Industrie 4.0, the vision of an adaptable and flexible factory is addressed, and therefore the ability of a factory to easily change with or without structural changes due to the current application scenarios. This leads to the need to describe flexible manufacturing control strategies, i.e. by modeling decision-making agents, which are robust to failures and changes of the manufacturing process. In addition, the application of decision-theoretic methods leads to higher throughput and improved quality by improving test strategies. The combination of both production and quality assurance tasks proven by corresponding simulation models and dynamically adapted to the current production situation will lead to improved production processes.
