Electrochemical characteristics of a Si/Ge multilayer anode for lithium-ion batteries

摘要
A Si/Ge multilayer consisting of a active/active material was prepared using rf/dc magnetron sputtering. Ge is expected to act as a buffer against the volume change of the silicon and to enhance the cyclabilty. The structural and the electrochemical characteristics of the multilayers were investigated. The multilayer maintained greater than 65 % of its initial capacity (2090 mAhg(-1)) after 100 cycles whereas the initial capacity of the Si thin film was gradually degraded after 10 cycles.
