Dynamical sticking of a solid 4He film with superfluid overlayer

摘要
We observed a phenomenon in a quartz-crystal microbalance experiment for solid He-4 films with liquid overlayer on graphite. The solid atomic layers underneath the superfluid layer stop slipping from the oscillating substrate when the superfluid density grows up to a certain magnitude. This phenomenon can be explained by a mechanism in which the mass transport caused by the motion of edge dislocations in solid atomic layers is canceled by counterflow of the superfluid overlayer.
