ETHNO-VETERINARY PRACTICES USED BY TRIBALS OF CHITTOOR DISTRICT, ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA

摘要
An attempt has been made to document the ethnoveterinary practices used by tribal livestock rearers in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. Exploratory research design has been adopted and the primary data was collected for identification of healers and elderly farmers possessing this knowledge from Chittoor district. A total of 20 tribal livestock farmers were selected and their knowledge on various ailments of animals was documented. Ailments covered include extra teeth, anorexia, stomatitis, bloat, constipation, diarrheoa, endoparasites, dysentery, cold and cough, ephemeral fever, drenching, pneumonia, FMD, repeat breeding, retained placenta, dystocia, metritis, mastitis, corneal opacity, ticks and lice, mange, fracture, leg pain, tetanus, horn avulsion, snake bite, poisonous plant consumption, yoke gall, abscess, tail gangrene and allergic lesions.
