Substituted isoxazoles are synthesized by dehydrogenation of the appropriate substituted isoxazolidines, prepared by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of thiophene-2-carbaldehyde oxime with conventional dipolarophiles; based on these studies, cycloadducts obtained from 2-furaldehyde oxime, previously reported as [4+2] adducts, are revised to 1,3-dipolar structures.
