The workers' health should be preserved since the occurrence of occupational disease and/ or work-related accident can often have harmful consequences both physical and mental. Given the importance of the subject, laws were enacted by several countries always aiming occupational hygiene and health and the protection of workers ' health. Brazil has vast legislation to protect workers ' health. The research studies the number of accidents and occupational diseases in various sectors of the economy, between the years 2009 and 2015, and aims to present the most recent statistical indicators of accidents in the country. Official data are based on government statistics. It was possible to illustrate the number of accidents per year, the activities that had the most accidents and occupational diseases reported during this period, type of accident percentage and its consequences. Economic activities with higher rates of occupational accidents and occupational diseases are, respectively, hospital activities and banking activities. At the end of the research, it was possible to conclude the reducing trend in the number of accidents during the analyzed period.
