摘要
The aim of the article is to highlight the importance of social responsibility in higher education. Similarly to organizations in the for-profit sector, the actors of tertiary education have not only the possibility, but the obligation of exhibiting responsible behaviour Therefore, the article presents the forms of the social engagement of higher education institutions based on an overview of the terminology of corporate social responsibility (CSR). It describes the concept of university social responsibility (USR) and that of the third mission of universities, then differentiates them. Relying on the relevant professional literature, it presents the classification of the USR and third mission activities of the University of Dunaujvaros, as well as provides a detailed description of some based on the content analysis of available institutional documents. The presented data demonstrate that although the university is not a major institution in terms of its size and student number its community engagement on the local and regional levels is both commendable and exemplary.
